Greater student participation and more fabulous computer prizes are what everyone can expect during this year’s Custom Computers Fourth Annual A’s For Excellence Campaign, which kicks off this month.

Thousands of students from primary and high schools, both government and private, are expected to participate in the campaign which rewards academic excellence. For every ‘A’ grade on their year end report card, students have an opportunity to enter a drawing for a chance to win brand new computers. To enter, students simply visit either Custom Computers ‘Know How Stores’ on East Bay Street or Cable Beach with a copy of their report card, accompanied by a parent or guardian, and register for their chance to win!

In the High School student category the prize will be an HP Touch Pad, a new tablet slated to be launched in June. In the Primary School category, the winner will receive a Mini HP Laptop. And this year, the school entering the most ‘A’ grades will win a mini computer lab system (with five terminals) for their school.

“We are very happy to launch the Fourth Annual A’s for Excellence Campaign. All of the prizes this year are kindly being donated by Hewlett Packard for which we are incredibly grateful. We are very, very happy to have Hewlett Packard partner with us. It also shows the level of support for this promotion which has now literally exploded in this country,” commented Pia Farmer, Marketing Director for Custom Computers. “We expect this year’s Fourth Annual A’s For Excellence to have thousands of entries.”

The program has become quite popular over the years among Education officials, teachers and parents throughout the country because of the importance it places on academic achievement. “We love to see children come in proudly displaying their report cards.” Mrs. Farmer said. “In addition it demonstrates that there is some good news to be found in the education field. These children are excelling and working very hard with the help of their parents and their teachers to achieve their good grades.”

Over the years Custom Computers has supported excellence in education. This year alone the company has donated brand new computers and laptops to the top BJC Student of The Year, one of the top 3 BGCSE Students of the Year winners, the winner of the Annual Bahamas National Spelling Bee and the Primary School Student of the Year, as well as the Top Male Student of the Year with the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

The deadline for entries is Thursday, August 18th, and the drawing will take place on Saturday, August 20th, with the presentation of prizes slated for September during a special awards function to be attended by Education Officials and representatives of Hewlett Packard. Students in the Family Islands may enter the competition online at www.AforExcellence.com, or fax their entries together with a copy of their report card to 242-396-1109, or mail an entry with a copy of their report card to Custom Computers Limited, P.O. Box N-3243, Nassau, Bahamas.
