19 spike in MLS sales encouraging realtors

Real estate sales on the Bahamas Real Estate Association’s (BREA) Multiple Listing Service (MLS) are up 19 percent for the first quarter of 2011, prompting one agent to say the market is rebounding.
“This indicates that the market is seeing a real estate recovery, which could be bad for the buyers of 2012 and great for sellers,” Matt Sweeting, an agent with Mario Carey Realty, told Guardian Business yesterday. First quarter 2011 sales closed at $33 million according to MLS data Sweeting provided, up from $26 million in the first quarter of last year.
