Police investigate apparent drowning of boat captain

FREEPORT - Police are investigating the apparent drowning of a boat captain at the old cement factory dock near Freeport Harbour.

Around 6pm on Tuesday, police received a call from the Freeport Harbour Company explaining that a boat captain had fallen overboard and was found unresponsive.

Asst Supt Hector Delva, assistant police press officer, reported that officers were dispatched to the old cement factory dock where they found the body of a "light-skinned" man lying on the deck at the stern of a boat with a rope tied around his waist.

The deceased man was clad in jeans and a beige striped polo shirt.
