The National
Development Party puts the government on notice that the Bahamian people
will not abide the sale of BEC to Emera or any other foreign entity
under any circumstance.

Recently the government, through the
junior minister of state for environment and the chairman of BEC, has
been making suggestions that BEC is on the market and that two
non-Bahamian companies are in the running for the acquisition. The
