Bahamas Waste Thanks Their Staff for Hurricane Efforts

After an exhausting month of work, the Bahamas Waste family took a day off on Saturday to get a very big thank you from their bosses and fellow team members. “A perfect employee is the one who inspires his boss as much as his boss inspires him” said Francisco de Cardenas, Managing Director of Bahamas Waste. “Today was a day to say thank you to our staff, who inspired me this year with their above and beyond attitudes during a stressful time for us all.”

de Cardenas was referring to Hurricane Mathew which caused significant damage across New Providence. “Our teams where working extra shifts before the storm, collecting as much garbage as we could. Once the all clear was given, they were some of the first back on the roads making our island livable again!”

According to Ernestine Lloyd, the company’s Human Resources Manager, the day was filled with “good fun and fellowship with staff and family” that featured food and drinks and lots of fun and games.

The staff and their families spent the day enjoying games and competitions like a hula-hoop competition, sack and egg and spoon races, a volley ball match, domino contests, musical chairs and a thug-of-war contest. “We were very pleased management agreed to go ahead with our planned Annual Family Fun Day,” noted Lloyd. “It was surely rewarding watching families spend time together.”

The event was not only for the staff, as the children of all the employees were also invited to the fun day held at the company’s headquarters at Gladstone Road. “The children probably enjoyed the day more than their parents” said Lloyd. “Spending almost the entire afternoon in the bouncing castles or playing games, only getting breaks when it was time to eat or have their face painted.”

The Bahamas Waste event was planned by its in-house Planning Committee, who are already excited for the 2017 Family Fun Day as this year’s event was a huge hit. Ms. Lloyd expressed her gratitude, “This was our first family fun day and we have been getting lots of congratulations and compliments. It’s a great opportunity for us to thank our staff, there are many who have gone about and beyond the call of duty. Sometimes we don’t get to thank them in person. Today we hope they understood we noticed!”
