Caribbean Bottling Company will ensure that all participants in the 2016 Run For Pompey will be hydrated and powered up for this ultra-marathon!

In 1830, eight years before slavery was abolished in the Bahamas, Pompey rose to fame among the slave population in Exuma and around the Bahamas for defying orders to be sent to another island, and sparking rebellion across the country. This event, Run for Pompey, original planned for National Hero’s weekend, but was postponed to October 29th due to Hurricane Matthew, will honor the legacy of Pompey like no other event. The proceeds of this event go directly back into supporting and sustaining communities in and the people of Exuma. For these reasons Caribbean Bottling Company (CBC), local producer of Dasani water and Coca-Cola brands, is proud to offer their support as the official beverage provider.

“We are so thankful to Caribbean Bottling Company, our official beverage sponsor, for their donation of Dasani water and Powerade to Run For Pompey,” said Kevin Taylor, one of the organizers of the race. “This authentically Bahamian event really shows how the whole community can come together for a great cause. CBC is a Bahamian business leader and we are honored to be working with them now, and in the future.”

“Run For Pompey is a great opportunity for the island of Exuma, and will hopefully increase awareness of the role Pompey himself played in Bahamian history,” Cara Douglas, Marketing Manager of CBC, explained. “We here at CBC are happy to support local sporting events, such as the Run For Pompey, that are actively working for community development, and fit seamlessly with our message of health, and wellness for Dasani water. We are proud to be the official beverage provider and hydrate runners during this event.”

Run For Pompey will be held on the island of Exuma on October 29th, the event was postponed from October 8th (National Hero’s Weekend) due to Hurricane Matthew. Individuals may participate in a variety of races; a 5K, 21.5KM Half Marathon, 42K Full Marathon, and a 50K Ultra Marathon. Funds raised will be used for projects that aid the local community.
