A 17-year-old accused of a home invasion at Harbour Island this week has been remanded to prison.

The teen appeared before Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux yesterday facing one count of burglary, four counts of armed robbery, four counts of receiving and four counts of causing harm in connection with the October 18 incident. He is also accused of stealing and receiving a boat.

Prosecutors allege that the teen burgled Warren Grant's home on October 18 and robbed Grant of a watch, $650. It is also accused that he robbed Sandra Grant of a $125 cell phone, De'Ann Grant of a cell phone and a backpack, worth $20 and Jamaine Grant of a PlayStation 4, valued at $400.

The teen faces the alternative charge of receiving the items taken in the armed robbery.

The teen is accused of causing harm to the family.

He was not required to enter pleas to the allegations and has been remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

The teen was also accused of stealing a 20-foot boat that belonged to Benjamin Simmons between October 17 and 18.

He pleaded not guilty to those charges.

The juvenile makes his next court appearance on January 23.

At that time, his trial on the boat theft charge will begin and the other matters are expected to be transferred to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment.
