A man was shot and killed last night as he drove on Amos Ferguson Street, off East Street, with five children in the car, police said.

The man died on the scene and three of the children were taken to hospital, but their condition was not immediately known.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean said at least one of the children was injured.

"The reality is, because they are kids we can tell that these senseless killers have no regard for human life and no regard for young children," Dean said.

"They determine that if they want to kill somebody that's all on their mind; to kill. They have no feelings, no remorse, they just want to kill."

The car the man was driving crashed into a wall.

Numerous family members rushed to the scene with one crying, "Lord Jesus,  not again."

The victim's mother, visibly distraught, made three attempts to see her son's body, which was slumped in the car.

According to Dean, police had no motive for the killing, but were on the lookout for the black vehicle eyewitnesses saw the shooters in.

"We will continue to look for the suspects," he said.

"I know over the past couple of days we have been having shooting incidents, which is a concern for us. But we want to assure the Bahamian public that all is not lost."

This murder was the second in New Providence this week.

On Monday morning, a man was shot numerous times to the head on Walnut Street, Pinewood Gardens, police said.
"There are some persons who are just hell-bent on committing crime," Dean said last night.

"We have to ask everyone to get involved and talk to these individuals. They have homes, they have beds, they have mothers, fathers and other relatives.

" We ask everyone, if you see these persons going down that conveyor belt of anti-social behavior and crime, take the Good Samaritan approach and help these persons."
