Postponement Of Ceremony In Observance Of National Heroes Day

Sun, Oct 9th 2016, 12:00 AM

Monday 10 October is National Heroes Day in The Bahamas, a public holiday.

Bahamians are reminded to remember all those who helped to build our nation.

The General Public is advised that Cabinet at its meeting on 7th October agreed to postpone the ceremony that was to have taken place 10 October at the Botanic Gardens in observance of National Heroes Day. This is so that all the military and public agencies together with the civilian authorities can concentrate on the hurricane recovery.

The Government pays tribute to all those who helped to build our nation.  We are certain that in this post hurricane phase when we face the challenges of recovery, new heroines and heroes will emerge.  Let us remember those who gave to this nation before us and let us pray for those who will help to build our nation in the future.
As we go to church  today let us pray  for the builders of the nation and for its recovery. Each one is encouraged to do so today  on the eve of National Heroes Day, remembering our blessings and those who brought  us here and praying for our future.

As soon as the new date for the ceremony has been  set, the general public will be advised.
