Black Carpet Senior and Exile are taking you back to the days of your youth this weekend with Return to the Classics Volume IV -- a 70s and 80s party for the grown folk.
Return to the Classics Volume IV will be held at the Palm Cay Club, east of Treasure Cove on Saturday. According to event organizers the party is said to be the leader in the staging of old school parties, so much so that lots of people have tried to duplicate their events, but failed miserably, according to Black Carpet Entertainment public relations officer Tanya Smith-Cartwright. With that in mind she said they are returning to the party scene this weekend with the fourth edition of the highly popular event.
"It's a very successful party for the grown folks who enjoy 70s and 80s music that takes them back to the days of their youth," said Smith Cartwright.
While dancing the night away is a given, she said they've found the party becomes almost a reunion of sorts as people tend to reminisce about going to the skating ring and lacing up to skate at the City Market parking lot, talk about their love of Donna Summer music, and all things Grease, among all the other good stuff.
"We draw quite a bit of a crowd, but it's always a well-behaved, well-managed crowd because it's a grown folks -- so wherever we have it they are never disappointed by the large numbers we draw, because there are never any incidents. We have security but they're the least worked securities at the event," said Smith-Cartwright.
Black Carpet Entertainment partnered with Exile to produce the fourth version of the party that will be hosted by radio personalities Hope Shelly-Ann the "sophisticated mama", Mr. K who is "super dyno-mite", and Lady Tanya the "disco queen." DJ CRX spins the tunes.
She said to come expecting to have a good time, because the deejay tends to take you way back and give them the music they want to hear.
"There's plenty of dancing, and there will be signature drinks by Bacardi, so a good time will be had by all because Return to the Classics is the leader in old school parties. There are plenty people who try to duplicate, but they cannot duplicate this event. This is the major old school party. We are the trendsetters."
Adding to the evening she said some people opt to don the clothing style of the era.
"I'm always dressed in my 70s and 80s attire, and there's always this big contest between DJ Reality and I because he thinks he can out-dress me 70s style. So far he got me once when I wasn't looking, and I never failed to stomp him after that," said Smith-Cartwright.
"I just want everyone to come out and have a rocking good time."
The gates to the old school party opens at 6 p.m.; tickets can be had at Airbrush Junkies and are $20.
