Seventeen boys of the 23rd Company of Boys Brigade enjoyed a fun filled summer camp this season thanks to sponsorship from Consolidated Water Co. Ltd. (NASDAQ: CWCO), which develops and operates seawater desalination plants and water distribution systems in areas of the world where naturally occurring supplies of potable water are scarce or non-existent. The company, a long-time patron of Boys Brigade, presented the troop with a donation to help defray costs associated with the 7 day camp.

CWCO General Manager Bryan Russell said that the company is a constant supporter of Boys’ Brigade due to the positive impact the program makes in the lives of young men.

“At CWCO we feel it is our duty to give back to the communities that we operate in and serve,” said Mr. Russell. “We believe that through supporting The Boys’ Brigade camp and its mission, we are advocating for positive spaces for young men at a time when they are very much needed. We are happy to play our part in making Bahamas a better place for young men and boys.”

The camp was held at St. Barnabas Church, the home institution of the 23rd Company and hosted 17 boys between the ages of 6 and 15. The attending boys, who come from a combination of several companies and the surrounding neighbourhood, had a packed week, with field trips to Pirates of Nassau and The Sea Garden, Junkanoo themed arts and crafts, and a camping trip at the Scout Association’s Headquarters.

Most importantly, according to Captain Henry Curry, the boys were taught discipline and faith. “The most important things for us, our two pillars, are religion and discipline. So with religion, we teach them bible studies, and discipline we run drills and training, trademarks of, also comportment and how they behave themselves.”

Captain Curry stated that the company, the church, and the boys are grateful for the support of their patron, Consolidated Water.

“We are grateful to CWCO for assisting us with our camp year after year. We rely on institutions such as CWCO to assist us in creating positive activities and environments for the boys. By teaching the boys discipline through religion we hope to mould these young boys into productive young men. Boys’ Brigade provides the boys with something or someone to hold on to, and that is why we use the anchor, the cross, and the rope as our symbols.”
