Emphasis on the family unit

FOR too long family members have been thought of by the church as potential individual recruits. Very little thought has been given to evangelise or nurture the family as a unit.

The emphasis has been upon the individual. The approach overlooks the fact that the primary instruction and strength for the Christian life stems not from the church but from the family.

A study of the Sunday school pupils in a large church revealed that not one child from an unchurched home lasted through the entire series of the departmental programmes from the primary to the youth.
