Bahamians 'need more training' for five-star resort opportunities

BAHAMIANS need more specialised training and certification to take advantage of growing opportunities within five-star resorts, said executives at Sandals' Emerald Bay yesterday, noting there is a void of skilled and certified workers on Exuma who are ready to take on numerous jobs at the property.

The statement came as hotel officials took the media on a tour of the upgraded 13,000 sq ft property in Great Exuma - a year after taking over the old Four Seasons resort - and announced plans to add 66 new rooms to its market.

This will create more than 100 new jobs during and after the refurbishment phase.
