Team Bahamas may have fallen too far behind through the first three days of competition to mount a serious comeback at the 60th Annual Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships (CAGC). The team might not be able to contend for the Hoerman and George Teale cups, but could still move into the top five at the end of the final round of competition today. The final round of play will wrap up around 5 p.m. today at the One&Only Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island, The Bahamas.

The team finished the third day just six strokes out of fifth position with a total of 914 strokes. For the first time in the competition, The Bahamas had at least two players finish under par as DeVaughn Robinson and Shawn Kemp finished at 70 and 71 strokes respectively.

Puerto Rico continues to lead the way and is a strong favorite to win it all. Up to this point, they have a grand total of 849 strokes, more than 10 strokes ahead of the Dominican Republic (DR) who sit in second at 855 strokes. Trinidad and Tobago is third with 863 total strokes, Jamaica is fourth with 890 strokes, the Cayman Islands sit in fifth at 908 strokes and Barbados is seventh with a total of 915. The U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) is currently bringing up the rear at 945, and will more than likely finish in eighth position.

In women's action, in the hunt for the George Teale Cup, Puerto Rico leads the way with 437 total strokes. The USVI is second with 463 strokes, the DR is third with 465 strokes, Jamaica is fourth with 475 strokes and Trinidad and Tobago is fifth with 482 strokes. The Bajan team withdrew from competition and the Cayman Islands have no women's team represented at the tournament, which leaves The Bahamas in sixth with 493 strokes.

Puerto Rico continues to lead the way for the Arthur Ziadie Cup, given to the tournament's overall winner.

The two best scores go through in the George Teale division, while the Hoerman Cup division takes the top four scores.

Action continues today at the Ocean Club Golf Course with the first group set to tee off at 9 a.m.

The regional golf classic is sponsored this year by Bahamas Waste Ltd., Coca-Cola, Family Guardian, FirstCaribbean Bank International and J.S. Johnson Insurance Co. Ltd.
