Dear Editor,
It is quite obvious that there is a faction of the Bahamian community which is of the opinion that the leader of the Free National Movement, Dr. Hubert A. Minnis, is not of the caliber worthy of leading the party to victory during the next general election. That faction includes FNM members of Parliament.
Would you allow me to brand as irrelevant whether I am of the same opinion or not? What is relevant, though, at least with me, is that Minnis is willing to lead the way. I admire him for that.
Editor, you and I well know that there is no shortage of detractors of those in leadership positions. But, the volunteers to seek after the top job in any country, or political party, or organization, or company, or club, etc., are very few and far between, including the most vociferous of critics. That has become very clear lately (at least according to news reports).
It is easy to criticize, but exceedingly harder to "do". And so, might I suggest to the individuals of this faction that, if it is their belief that Minnis is not the right man for the job at this juncture, then it is incumbent upon them to cause the necessary machinations to be initiated so that, after all is said and done, they would have risen to the top of the party. Then, it would be time to "do" and not just "say". In the final analysis, it is time to "put up or shut up".
