The Freedom Farm Baseball League (FFBL) has received a financial boost to help with its competitive sporting programs for a network of age groups reaching over 600 young athletes. The league recently received sponsorship from longtime supporter CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank to assist with equipment and operational expenses.

According to Marie Rodland-Allen, managing director of CIBC FirstCaribbean, the bank continues its faithful support due to the organization's exemplary dedication to the development of the youth through sports.

"Sports play an integral part in developing discipline, self-esteem and opportunities for children. Each of these organizations has demonstrated an amazing commitment to advancing Bahamian youth of all backgrounds through their activities, to proven results. CIBC FirstCaribbean is proud to be a continuous supporter of outstanding programs like Freedom Farm," she said.

CIBC FirstCaribbean has supported Freedom Farm for 10 years. The annual sponsorships provide uniforms and equipment for at least one team each year, focusing on teams in the 11-12 and 13-15 age groups.

Andrew Thompson, treasurer and board member of Freedom Farm, said: "CIBC FirstCaribbean has always been very supportive of baseball throughout the years and we like working with them because some of their staff are involved in the program. We have added two women's softball divisions recently so sponsorship is more important than ever, so we thank CIBC FirstCaribbean for being such a generous and reliable sponsor."

The gifts are courtesy of the FirstCaribbean International Comtrust Foundation, a Caribbean-wide initiative which ensures that one percent of the bank's profits reach important causes which are selected by employees. Focus on youth is a major component of CIBC FirstCaribbean's four-pronged social impact policy which also promotes health and wellness, staff volunteerism and environmental causes.
