Police have charged a resident of Mason's Addition in connection with a murder and attempted murder that occurred in the area last week.

Investigators believe Richard Brown, 23, of Spence Street, is responsible for the May 18 shooting death of Davano Decosta at Burial Ground Corner on May 18.

Brown is also charged with the attempted murder of a 16-year-old C.R. Walker student, who was also wounded in the shooting.

Brown was not required to enter a plea to the charges when he made his initial appearance before Deputy Chief Magistrate Constance Delancy.

Brown has been remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until July 13, when it is expected that the case will be transferred to the Supreme Court for trial.

Also appearing before Delancy was a 21-year-old accused of rape.

Christie Rahming is accused of raping a 19-year-old on May 21.

He, too, was not required to enter a plea and returns to court on July 13.
