Bahamas Delegation Participates in Seventh Meeting of CAROM-US Trade and Investment Council

A delegation from the Ministry of Financial Services is completing a working visit to Washington, D.C., where they provided a presentation at the Seventh Meeting of the CARICOM-United States Trade and Investment Council, held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.

The Bahamas’ delegation was headed by Ms. Keva Bain, Acting Director of Trade, and Mr. Hillary Deveaux, Consultant, and supported by diplomatic officers from the Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Items on the agenda engaged upon included sanitary and phytosanitary standards, energy, intellectual property protections, potential cooperation on information communication technology and the issue of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

The Bahamian delegation also took the opportunity to discuss potential areas of technical assistance and capacity building from the United States to enhance trade facilitation and the broader challenge of access to technical assistance, aid and finance for The Bahamas from OECD countries and international financial institutions.
