A giant of a man

The Anglican Diocese and the wider community are mourning the loss of one of the country’s most beloved church leaders, Bishop Michael Hartley Eldon, who died early Monday morning after suffering a long illness.
Bishop Eldon, 79, was known for his personal touch. He was a good priest and a humble man who lived a fairly simple life. He was a model for priests and religious leaders at a time when more and more church leaders are becoming known for ostentatious behavior.
“In every respect, he was a giant of a man,” the Diocese of The Bahamas and The Turks and Caicos Island said of Bishop Eldon in a statement released shortly after his death.
