A Jet Blue aircraft crash landed at LPIA after experiencing problems with its landing gear this afternoon. There are no reports of injuries.

Emergency response crews were on the ground as a precaution.

Air traffic controller Lashan Gray confirmed that the aircraft had issues with its landing gear.

According to a statement on her Facebook page, on approach to Nassau, Jet Blue experienced landing gear problems.

"They carried out a flyby where the air traffic team was able to confirm the status of the aircraft. After burning fuel for quite a while, Jet Blue returned to attempt landing where all emergency personnel including crash fire rescue, were in position for their arrival. The pilot did an awesome job landing the E190," she said.

"Under the oversight of Mrs. Claudette Williams Nixon and Mr. Bryan Wilson, all other aircraft managed to avoid any inconvenience to Jet Blue and minimal delays were experienced at Nassau airport."

She added: "The pilot had an amazing landing without his nose gear and the lives of some 97 passengers were saved."
