Taking it outside the church's walls

Mount Tabor Church senior pastor, Bishop Neil C. Ellis hopes to re-energize the "spiritual pulse" on New Providence with his Me & My House Crusade, which will take place outside the four walls of his church as he takes to the community for the event at the Pinewood Gardens Park.

With the country plagued by a myriad of social concerns that have continued to negatively erode at the very fabric of homes and communities, Ellis' upcoming crusade will be a coordinated effort to bring about meaningful change.

Ellis, who recently observed 29 years of leadership of Mount Tabor Church, is expected to preach a message on crusade night, which he believes will create a spark to create a national revival that could surpass the transformative national impact of the much-touted Revival is Here Crusades of 2003.

The Mount Tabor family has expectations that scores of lives will be changed as a result of people attending the event on Monday, March 21 at 7 p.m., with pre-event activities -- a performance from The Urban Renewal Marching Band, and a basketball jamboree, kicking off at 6 p.m.

"Mount Tabor Church members have embraced the church's 2016 vision that this year is to be a year of transformative living, with a concerted effort being placed on reaching the lost around us and fighting for the advancement and protection of the family," said Ellis.

He is excited about the enthusiasm of the membership, but believes true national transformation only takes place through personal salvation and the collective responsibility for each church member to be deliberate about reaching at least one lost soul.

Bishop Ellis believes that greater things are yet to come, and is prayerful that the crusade will reenergize the "spiritual pulse" on the island and around the country, and bring about much-needed transformation.

Even though the event will be hosted at the Pinewood Gardens park, families from throughout the island are encouraged to attend.

Pinewood Urban Renewal coordinator, Vergiles Cenatus said the crusade will come at a critical time in the life of the nation, and more so, the southern communities, inclusive of Pinewood Gardens, Nassau Village, South Bach and Kennedy Subdivision.

Cenatus said he believes that critical partnerships between the church and community stakeholders could positively impact the lives of local residents, including the young people.
