Taxi blaze holds up early morning traffic

EARLY morning traffic was backed up and had to be diverted Thursday morning after a taxi bus caught fire on Bay Street. According to head of Police Fire Services Superintendent Walter Evans the incident happened around 7am on Bay Street and Frederick Street. When firefighters arrived at the scene, Supt. Evans said they found the vehicle engulfed in flames. However the fire was extinguished not long after. He said a nearby building received minor damage as a result of the blaze.

Investigations are continuing into the matter.
