POLICE are expected to formally charge several persons in connection with the murder of a man last week in Bimini, a senior police official said in Grand Bahama on the weekend.

Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Emrick Seymour announced during a press conference at police headquarters on Sunday that a police investigation led to the arrest of five men in connection with the death of a man whose body was discovered last week in Alice Town.

Grand Bahama police were sent in to assist officers in Bimini with their investigation after a partially decomposed body was found around 10am on Wednesday, February 3, near the Bimini All Age School.

Although police have not yet officially released the victim’s identity, the deceased is believed to be Rodrige Eliassaint, who was reported missing by relatives on January 30.

Eliassaint, who recently moved to the island from New Providence, had reportedly been in a fight with several men in Bimini before he disappeared.
