47 Haitian migrants apprehended

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) said yesterday that 47 Haitian immigrants were caught on a vessel off Ragged Island last Thursday.

In a statement, the RBDF said the HMBS Lawrence Major was on patrol when it intercepted a vessel with 38 men, seven women and two children around 8 p.m. off Hog Cay, Ragged Island.

The immigrants were transported to New Providence.
