A man accused of three murders was yesterday sentenced to three years' imprisonment for unauthorized possession of a loaded 9mm pistol.

Armando Sargent, 22, of Kemp Road, was on bail for the 2014 gun case when police alleged that he committed three murders last year. He was arrested at Kemp Road and Lyon Road after police found the weapon when they stopped and searched his Honda Accord. Sargent was remanded to prison last November after he was accused of three murders that were allegedly committed with firearms.

Prosecutors allege Sargent and two others killed Queen's College Primary School teacher Joyelle McIntosh on November 11, 2015 during an attempted armed robbery. Sargent is also accused of the murder of Demyko Munroe and the attempted murder of Marcian Rolle, which occurred shortly after the murder of McIntosh at White's Addition. Sargent is also accused of the April 30, 2015 murder of Thiffeon Johnson at St. Margaret Road.

Sargent's lawyer, Tai Pinder, asked the court to show leniency given her client's youth. Magistrate Samuel McKinney sentenced Sargent to three years for the pistol and one year for the bullets. The sentences are to run concurrently.
