Odette Carey, BTC’s Product Developer/Manager - Broadband, Landline, IPTV & Business Solutions speaks with radio host Wendell Jones about BTC’s latest product FLOW TV at its official launch in Bimini.

In a celebratory occasion at Resorts World Bimini, The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) marked an important milestone offering FLOW TV packages to residents and business partners in addition to Internet, Voice and Mobile, becoming the country’s first telecom quad-player. The Right Honourable Perry G Christie and the Honourable Obie Wilchcombe, Minister of Tourism, were the guests of Honour and brought remarks.

Transitioning from the testing phase last October to offering 170 IPTV channels Bimini became the first island to have FLOW TV packages available and held a ‘soft launch’ on October 29th to introduce them. The island of Inagua soon followed launching on December 15th 2015. Cat Island, Andros and Long Island are currently in the last stages of their trial phase and on track for their own launches later this year.

FLOW TV, a brand assimilated from BTC’s parent company Cable and Wireless Communications (CWC), brings a wealth of choice and convenience and the power of the CWC and Columbus International networks behind it. CWC acquired top regional television provider Columbus International last year and provides television services under the FLOW brand services in nine markets throughout the region including Jamaica, Cayman and Trinidad. BTC will be the tenth country in the region to provide “FLOW TV.”

Through these regional relationships FLOW TV boasts a wide selection of premium content, with exclusive rights to broadcast The 2016 Olympics, The European Premier League, and NFL TV assets such as ‘NFL RedZone” and “NFL Sunday Ticket” in the region.

Prime Minister Perry Christie Brings remarks at BTC’s Official Launch of FLOW TV in Bimini

FLOW TV is Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) which means, transmitted over an internet connection, it brings with it clearer more reliable picture and new interactive features which are expected to be a hit with customers.

“FLOW TV powered by BTC will revolutionize the way that customers experience television,” said BTC CEO Leon Williams. “This service has already exceeded expectations in our first customers, and will continue to do so as we launch throughout the islands. Customers are in control with FLOW TV and have the ability to experience television on their time and their terms through our cloud recording, universal DVR and other interactive features,”

Mr. Williams continued that the fact that the BTC hosted the product’s sales launch, and the day’s Official Celebratory launch in Bimini was a symbol of the company’s commitment to bringing premium products and services to all Bahamians, regardless of location.
