C.C. Sweeting (CCS) Senior School students Carlos Hamilton Jr., Craver Green Jr., and Stephan Horton were among six Bahamians to have successfully passed the EPA 608 Air conditioning and Refrigeration Certification exam, taken under the Ferris State University-Center for Certification, Training and Testing.

Horton began preparing for the exam at the age of 15. He along with Green and Hamilton are among the youngest students to be certified by Ferris State University-Center for Certification Training and Testing. The students who were tutored by Marva McDonald, the air conditioning and refrigeration pathway instructor at CCS, passed each of the four-section exam.

The school's air conditioning and refrigeration program, has been supported in the past five years by Leroy Forbes and Geno Forbes, principals in Bahamas Air Conditioning Contractors Ltd. (BACC), who have donated air conditioning systems and supplies, and of their time to speak with students enrolled in the program.

The Forbes' also allowed CCS air conditioning and refrigeration program students to engage in work experience at BACC.
Leroy Forbes in a written release said he pledged to continue to assist McDonald and the air conditioning and refrigeration course at CCS as best they could.

"I've found Mrs. McDonald to be sincere in her efforts to want to assist the students in the program in learning a new craft as well as her desire to want to see the program grow and reach more individuals and ultimately be implemented in all schools around the country," said Forbes.

"Mrs. McDonald often time would work with our company for the practical experience on any number of projects and job sites in an effort to put her theory into practice in the field as well as to be able to properly share experiences with her students on situations she may have encountered."

Also sitting the examination with the high school students were Christopher Woodside of the air conditioning and refrigeration section of the Ministry of Works and Randy Ferguson of the air conditioning and refrigeration section of the Ministry of Education.
