PCA 2016: Side event review #7

The first TV table of the day on EPTLive will feature EPT Prague €2k NL finalist Phillip McAllister (currently fourth in chips with 2,152,000), 2014 WCOOP World Champion Fedor Holz, EPT Grand Final Super High Roller runner-up Mike Watson, Australian businessman Ken Demlakian and Matt Waxman. The second part of the special in-vision edition of the EPTNotLive podcast at the PCA will be shown during breaks today. Stapes, James Hartigan and Matt Broughton face off in an Atari blindfold contest and they'll be joined by Superfan Asif Warris, aka: The Poker Tourist."

PIEKAZEWICZ WINS $5K NL EVENT
Brazilian Alisson Piekazewicz scored by far the biggest cash of his live poker career last night when he took down the $5k NL event for $175,750. The 24-year-old from Curitiba, who finished tenth in the LAPT Sao Paulo Grand Final last November for the equivalent of $15,241, beat Canada’s Martin Raus heads-up to seize his first trophy. British businessman Paul Newey was third for $79,100. There was a huge turnout for the tournament with 151 players and 20 paid from the $732,350 prize pool. Day 2 started with 27 players yesterday including PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT11 Grand Final champion Adrian Mateos, French pro Benjamin Pollak, Michael Telker, Pablo Gordillo, Guillaume Darcourt, Darren Elias, Ben Heath, Alex Fitzgerald, Thomas Muehloecker and Martin Finger.

NEVANLINNA WINS $5k PLO HI/LO 8-HANDED TURBO
Jussi Nevanlinna is having a terrific EPT Season 12 - and now has yet another PokerStars trophy packed away after winning yesterday’s $5k PLO Hi/Lo Turbo for $36,660. Nevanlinna has managed to cash at every EPT this season. At EPT Barcelona, he cashed three times: 150th in the Main Event, runner-up in a €5k NL Hyper Turbo for €90,135 and ninth in a €2k NL Turbo for €5,530. At EPT Malta, he finished 11th in the €10k High Roller for €26,645 and at EPT Prague, he won the €5k PLO for a further €77,500. In November he squeezed in a trip to Amsterdam where he beat a stacked field in the Master Classics for a €300k payday. There were 18 entries in last night’s event with the $87,300 prize pool divvied up between four players.

BOYD FARACH WINS $2k NL 6-HANDED TURBO
Panama’s Carlos Boyd Farach snagged the biggest payout of his live poker career yesterday when he took down the €2k NL Turbo for $63,000. Farach was up against a stacked field in the event; among those who cashed were Pascal Hartmann, Ludovic Geilich, Konstantinos Nanos, Rui Milhomens and Christian Harder. There were 129 players creating a $250,260 prize pool with 17 paid. Prior to arriving at this year’s PCA, Boyd Farach had only two previous live recorded cashes, but has now added another three to his resume. Yesterday’s $63,00 victory – and his first trophy - follows two previous cashes during the festival. He was runner-up in a $1k NL event two days ago for $27,700 and bubbled the final table in a $1k NL Hyper Turbo “Win the Button“ Bounty on Saturday for $1,120.

FLIPOUT UPDATES
There were another three $120 Flipout events yesterday with a total of 90 players competing overall. The biggest winner was Spanish player Benjamin Garcia who is won the “Winner Takes All” for $3,000. Garcia is here at the courtesy of winning the PokerStars.es ESCOOP leaderboard and won a package for the PCA 2016 Main Event.

All media attending the PCA are banned from any kind of gaming anywhere in the Bahamas for the duration of the event. This includes off-property casinos, online or in your hotel room. PCA 2016
A record 104 tourneys are taking place at Atlantis during the 2016 PCA festival. Aside from the $100k Super High Roller, $2,200 LAPT Bahamas Main Event and PCA 2016 Main Event, there is also a $50k One-Day High Roller Single Re-Entry on January 9.
