PCA 2016: Side event review #5

MONDAY ACTION AT THE PCA
As well as Day 3 of the PCA Main Event today, Monday’s action includes $1k, $2k and $5k NL events, two PLO tourneys, a $5k NL Turbo, three more $120 Flipouts and a $1k Hyper Turbo "Win the Button" to wrap up the evening.

Today’s “Breakfast with the Pros” session was hosted by Team PokerStars Pros Liv Boeree and Eugene Katchalov talking about 'Taking poker skills outside of the Tournament room'.

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier hosted the first PCA 3 v 3 Shootout competition at 9am today. Up to 48 players were able compete; each member of the top three-person team will win a $1k side event tournament ticket. Details to follow in next media alert.

EPTLIVE
EPTLive's world-famous bubble coverage will get under way today with Day 3 of the PCA 2016 Main Event coverage resuming at noon. The first TV table of the day features Friend of PokerStars Felipe Ramos, PCA 2011 runner-up Chris Oliver, Jason Koon, Todd Sisley.

D’ANSELMO LEADS FOR DAY 2 OF $2K NL TOURNEY
Italian player Nicola D`Anselmo is leading the final 13 players for Day 2 of the $2k tourney which started yesterday. D’Anselmo, whose best live result to date was a deep run in last season’s EPT Grand Final €25k High Roller, has 479,500. There were 182 players in the $2k, creating a $353,080 prize pool. Among those still in the running for the $78,240 first prize are fellow Italian Rocco Palumbo, British players Simon Deadman and Iaran Lightbourne and Jake Schwartz. Play resumes at 1pm. Among the 14 players who have already cashed are David Yan, Pablo Gordillo, Erwann Pecheux, Dylan Linde and Mike McDonald.

BEHBEHANI WINS $2K NL TURBO
Salman Behbehani from Kuwait has won yesterday’s $2k NL Turbo event for $51,480. There were 88 players in the event, with 12 re-entries, creating a $194,000 prize pool. Among the 13 players to cash were LAPT5 Punta del Este champion Diego Sanchez, who was runner-up, EPT10 Player of the Year Ole Schemion, Andrew Chen, November Niner Pierre Neuville and Darren Elias.

BOULOTSOS DEFEATS STACKED FIELD IN $5K PLO TURBO
Konstantinos Bouloutsos may be relatively unknown in the live poker arena but he has just beaten one of the toughest fields at Atlantis this year to take down the $5k PLO Turbo. Bouloutsos, a Supernova Elite on PokerStars who mainly plays PLO cash games, won $46,850, which is only his second live recorded cash. There were 23 players creating a $111,550 prize pool. Among the players who didn’t make the money were Alexander Grishchuk, Christian Harder, Master Classics champion Jussi Nevanlinna, EPT8 Grand Final Super High Roller winner Justin Bonomo, Luc and Max, Greenwood, EPT Prague winner Martin Finger, Mike Leah and Sam Stein.

SECOND PCA TROPHY FOR SOSHNIKOV
Russian player Ivan Soshnikov has won his second event of PCA 2016, taking down yesterday’s $600 NL Turbo "Win the Button". Soshnikov snagged $12,000 after beating Argentin’s Ezequiel Kleinman heads-up. There were 84 players with 11 taking a share of the $43,680 prize pool. Last Thursday Soshnikov won the late night $2k NL Turbo for $34,920. The only other double winner at PCA 2016 so far is Britain’s Guy Taylor who won $120 Flipout events two days running.

FLIPOUT UPDATES
There were another three $120 Flipout events yesterday with a total of 90 players competing overall. The biggest winner was American William Berman who won the “Winner Takes All” for $3,000.

MEDIA INFO
All media attending the PCA are banned from any kind of gaming anywhere in the Bahamas for the duration of the event. This includes off-property casinos, online or in your hotel room. You must credit PokerStars in the first instance of your event coverage and write PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in full, not just PCA. The PSLive guidelines provides further general information.

PCA 2016
A record 104 tourneys are taking place at Atlantis during the 2016 PCA festival. Aside from the $100k Super High Roller, $2,200 LAPT Bahamas Main Event and PCA 2016 Main Event, there is also a $50k One-Day High Roller Single Re-Entry on January 9. The PCA 2016 Player Party is from 8pm - 10.30pm on Wednesday, January 13 in the Grand Ballroom - with food, entertainment and free bar. Party tickets will also get you free entry in to Aura nightclub afterwards (please note, drinks in Aura are not free).
