Where does the Caribbean Muzik Festival lawsuit leave us

Dear Editor,

The Caribbean Muzik Festival committee is taking legal action in the US against two Florida suppliers, claiming they forced the event to be postponed. The committee is asking for its money back in what looks set to be a long and drawn-out legal battle. The question is, where does all this leave The Bahamas?

Minister of Tourism Obie Wilchcombe said that he hopes for the return of the $650,000 that we paid in sponsor money to host the stalled event. The committee says the festival will now take place in early December, although a date has yet to be announced. Is the government still looking to get our money back? Will the lawsuit interfere with this? And for God sake, can the government please confirm that they don't intend to spend any more of our tax dollars trying to make this festival become a reality?
