A large crowd attended the Golden Gates Scholarship Fund Committee's All White Extravaganza at The Balmoral on Friday night. The event allowed guests to have an enjoyable evening for a good cause. The committee seeks to positively impact the lives of deserving students in the Golden Gates constituency by enabling them to pursue their dream of a tertiary level education.

The brainchild of Minister of Labour and National Insurance and the Public Service Shane Gibson, the program was designed to promote academic excellence and provide an opportunity for outstanding students with significant financial need in his constituency to reach their highest potential.

Though the Golden Gates Scholarship Fund is currently limited to students in the Golden Gates constituency, Gibson said he hopes the committee will eventually expand its reach to afford this opportunity to thousands of Bahamians throughout the country, thus contributing to national development.

Gibson, who is the son of cultural icon the late "King" Eric Gibson and the grandson of veteran educator T.G. Glover, said he understands the value of a good education and felt compelled to empower the best and brightest in his constituency.
