Taking tax pressure off Bahamian businesses
The country's current tax system is already earning all it can with no mechanism to collect from services, only goods.
Former Minister of State for Finance, James Smith, said the country is overdue for a new approach. Smith told Tribune business that a tax on the value added to goods would mean businesses pay taxes after they make a sale, not when they buy their inventory.

Projects to lower carbon emissions by 355,000 tonnes
A report from an international organisation said The Bahamas could save $1.36 million by installing compact fluorescent bulbs, using solar water heaters, solar cells and rewards consumers for energy they generate.
The Global Environment Facility would reduce corbon emissions by 60,418 tonnes directly and 295,455 tonnes indirectly.

Resorts worried in Governor's Harbour
American Eagle's decision to stop flights to Governor's Harbour means an hour-and-a-half drive for passengers that have been shifted to the North Eleuthera airport. It has already disrupted guests of Cocodimama Resort. Owner Michael Urgo said a wedding party staying at the hotel has had its entire schedule thrown off.
He said the flight had created an almost immediate jump in travel from Europe that has now been thrown into doubt.

Investor behind Bahamas firm's $25m collapse convicted
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - A Canadian investor was convicted of manipulating the stock price of four companies during a three-week trial. US Justice Robert Kelly said George Georgiou had cost two Bahamian brokerage houses a total of $29 million. Georgiou could be sentencted to as much as 65 years in prison and $21 million in fines when he is sentenced in May.
