Archdeacon loses latest attempt to avoid retirement
A judge discharged a court order preventing Anglican Bishop Laish Boyd from forcing Archdeacon Etienne Bowleg to retire as rector of the Parish Church of the Most Holy Trinity.
Bowleg had earlier claimed that the year on his birth certificate was eight years before his he was really born. In this latest attempt, Bowleg claimed that Boyd did not have the authority to force him out.

Police have suspect in Hywel Jones murder
Police have made a major break in the investigation into the murder of investment banker Hywel Jones, The Nassau Guardian has learned.
Officers have reportedly arrested a man in connection with another matter, but later received information about his possible involvement in the murder during the course of that investigation, a well-placed source said.
The suspect appeared in court this week on a shop-breaking charge. He was remanded into custody until Friday when he is expected to appear in court in connection to Jones' execution-style murder last year.

Bahamasair gets half requested $7m
Transport Minister Neko Grant said the government would provide $3.5 million of the $7.7 million that Bahamasair requested after it lost more than anticipated in the 2009/2010 budget. The national airline has lost an average of $25 million during the past three years.

Couple robbed at Yamacraw home
A couple was attacked by a masked gunman who robbed them of cash and fled in their Chevy Trailblazer.
The victims were at their home in Yamacraw Hill when the man approached, which was about 7.30pm. Police are investigating.

Female teacher accused of having sex with boy

Police are investigating allegations that a female teacher at a Family Island high school had sex with a male student, The Nassau Guardian has learned.
Guardian sources say that members of the Ministry of Education's Sexual Complaints Unit went to the island last week to investigate the claim.
It is alleged that the teacher and student, who is under 14, were caught having sex in a classroom.

Police arrest 8 in walkabouts and road checks

Police were focused on eastern New Providence with a series of walkabouts and road blacks that led to arrests for causing harm, drug possession and an outstanding warrant. The actions are the first in a series of operations planned for the area.

Two killed in separate traffic accidents
Evidence suggest that 20-year-old Wendall Smith lost control of his car, hitting a utility pole near Marcos Pizza on Prince Charles Drive. The crash happened about 2am yesterday.
Police are still collecting evidence about the second death, an Environmental Health worker that was hit by a truck about 4.30pm Wednesday.
