Palm Cay Marina on New Providence’s southeast coast was voted best in Nassau by boaters whose submitted reviews to ActiveCaptain.com, the TripAdvisor-like site for those who travel by yacht. Most reviewers complimented the marina on its friendly and personal service and commended Palm Cay for its restaurant, beaches and amenities.

Palm Cay Marina Voted Best in Nassau by Boaters.

For the second consecutive year, Palm Cay Marina won high praise from boaters but this year for the first time, the 194-slip marina on the southeast coast of New Providence was voted the best in New Providence.

The ranking followed reviews by dozens of users on a website called ActiveCaptain.com, the equivalent of TripAdvisor for boaters.

“Every year when Active Captain releases its reviews and tallies annual scores, marinas wait with great anticipation and for us, being relatively new to be among the top three in the country out of some 150 marinas and the best in Nassau is incredibly exciting,” said Palm Cay Dockmaster Demaro Demeritte. “The one thing boaters tell us consistently is that they feel at home here, that there is a sense of community, they love the restaurant, beach, pool, like being on vacation before they reach Exuma especially.”

The marina, which opened in 2013, is the closest to Exuma and is a natural draw for those who want to shave about six miles off the trip to the island chain considered the boaters’ paradise.

Comments from boaters ranged from “This is the best option on New Providence…Demaro and his staff are top-notch, friendly and eager to help. Can’t say enough about their professionalism. Definitely will be an annual stop for us (Sunny Isles Beach) to “The clubhouse is beautiful and the restaurant good. There’s a beautiful pool and beach…it is a lovely stop for provisioning and jumping off to the Exumas or the Abacos.” (Marco Island)

Others called it “a great marina,” or “our favorite marina (Yorktown, VA.). There were comments including “Good docks, Great location, Great restaurant, Great staff, Good value.” Boaters from Connecticut said “We can’t say enough good things about our experience at Palm Cay.”

The positive reviews have helped build business for the marina. It is averaging above 90% occupancy. A 14-boat charter fleet based in Nassau in the winter recently moved from another marina to Palm Cay partly because of its proximity to the Exumas.

Approximately half the slips at the full-service marina which sells fuel are reserved for local boaters, including homeowners in the nearly 70-acre development that features clubhouse, restaurant, pools, tennis, and private beach. The $200 million family-oriented community features single family homes, condominiums and townhomes. www.palmcay.com
