On September 5, BAARK! (Bahamas Alliance for Animal Rights and Kindness) will host its third triathlon on Jaws Beach. This year the Potcakeman Triathlon is pleased to have the Pet Food Institute (PFI) as a sponsor. The Pet Food Institute represents United States manufacturers of dog and cat food, and promotes initiatives to advance the nutrition of pets and the role of pets in our society.

"BAARK! is pleased to welcome the participation of PFI," said Sarah Kennedy of BAARK! "Given our common interests in the welfare of cats and dogs, it goes without saying how pleased we are to offer support to BAARK!" declared Yorick Cox, PFI representative.

"This is a relationship with clear long term alignment." The Potcakeman Triathlon is a distance race consisting of a 750m swim, 21K bike ride and 5K run. Athletes can choose to compete in all three disciplines or form a relay team. Following the adult race is a shortened Puppy Triathlon for children ages six to 14.

Participants can register on or before midnight on September 1 on the event's website www.potcakeman.com. The Potcakeman Triathlon is the largest triathlon event in The Bahamas with over 200 participants and all proceeds going toward BAARK!'s spay/neuter and education programs across The Bahamas.
