…FRED WEAKENING AS IT MOVES AWAY FROM THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS…

AT 11:00 AM AST, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM FRED WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 18.3°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 27.0°WEST OR ABOUT 255 MILES NORTHWEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS.

Fred is moving toward the West-NorthWest near 10 MPH and this general motion is expected to cointune during the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 50 miles per hour with higher gusts. Additional weakening is expected during the next 48 hours, and Fred is forecast to become a Tropical Depression by late Wednesday.
