The trial of a 50-year-old man who impregnated a teenager was adjourned yesterday for prosecutors and defense lawyers to formalize plea discussions. Prince Rahming appeared before Justice Vera Watkins for the start of his rape trial in which he was accused of molesting the girl from childhood. The victim, now 19, had a child fathered by Rahming.

Watkins released the jury after defense lawyer Ramona Farquharson-Seymour informed the court that an informal plea agreement in which Rahming would face two to two-and-a-half years in prison had been reached.

Watkins adjourned the case to September 15 to allow the agreement to be put in writing. Patrick Sweeting and David Cox appeared for the Crown.
