Discipline defines you

We all know I believe, that in order to be successful at anything one needs to set goals and objectives and then work hard each and every day to bring these goals to fruition. Now as we all also know I’m sure, there will be days when we do not feel like doing what we know we must do in order to achieve these goals and objectives in a set time frame.

It’s on precisely days like these that the losers are separated from the winners. Yes indeed, when the loser comes up against some difficulties, some serious problems as they pursue their objectives, they just quit, whereas the winners of the world, no matter how difficult the task may be to deal with the unwanted problems, stays with the task until they accomplish what they initially set out to achieve. This my friend, takes a whole lot of discipline. Yes it does. As today’s title puts it discipline defines you. It defines you as either a winner or a loser.

On the road to success, there’s no doubt about it, the going so very often gets real tough as major problems occur blocking the way forward. It’s at precisely times like these that strong discipline must come into play whilst we stay with the situation and refuse to quit until we find a workable solution to the problem. I fully understand that at times this is not an easy thing to do; however, it’s absolutely essential if success is to be attained in the end. Yes indeed, discipline defines you.

When I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Sir Arthur Foulkes who served as governor general of The Bahamas from the year 2010 to 2014 for my “Success Files” series, he stated that discipline is vital for success. He further stated that he knew many people who were as he put it, far more talented than he was, who were not successful in life simply because they had no discipline. He summed up his feelings on the subject like this “Without discipline a person cannot succeed.” He was obviously correct in his wise pronouncement.
