Sandals Resorts recently participated in PADI’s women’s dive day, giving women the chance to get certified to dive at a fraction of the cost.

Sandals, which was recently recognized as having one of the premier dive centres in the world, saw women’s dive day as an opportunity to entice more women to learn to dive.

On average, 38 percent of divers worldwide are female. About 30 percent of Sandals and Beaches guests who dive are women. Sandals wanted to encourage more women to become certified as well as reinforce the chain’s position as the leader in certifications in the Caribbean.

On July 18th women around the world were invited to take the plunge and learn to dive. However, Sandals Royal Bahamian extended that deal for the entire month of July, giving women 20 percent off their certification cost and 20 percent off retail items at the resort’s Aqua Centre.

Of the almost 14 certifications completed for July, 11 were women.

“The month isn’t over yet, but we have been doing very well,” said Watersports Supervisor Alfred Stuart.

Mr. Stuart explained that women were given a list of dive sites to experience in order to make their first-ever dives all the more adventurous.

Sandals Resorts International recently reinforced its scuba diving credentials after reaching 50,000 certifications to become one of the premier dive divisions in the world.
