This week, Milo Butler will officially open the doors to a second Flying Dutchman Liquor Store. The new Cable Beach location is the first expansion of the company’s liquor division in more than 25 years.

For the third-generation businessman, the latest store signals a shift in the company’s business approach. Major facility upgrades, corporate rebranding and enhanced customer service are all part of an overall strategy to propel Milo Butler forward.

"Over the years, we've been committed to providing quality products and service to the Bahamian community since the company started more than 50 years ago,” Butler said. "And now with the Flying Dutchman expansion, we have the opportunity to reintroduce our brand in a new way. The capital outlay on this project is the first in a series of upgrades and expansions planned over the next 18-24 months.”

The new, 1200 sq. ft. store opens as a third outlet nears completion. The Flying Dutchman #3 is expected to open in southwestern New Providence in late August at The Shops At Carmichael plaza, a real estate development within the Milo Butler portfolio.

The liquor stores are named after a fabled sea captain known as The Flying Dutchman who became the world’s foremost trader of specialty rums during the 18th century.

With a high-traffic location and an extensive selection of beers, wines and spirits and hard-to-find items, the Cable Beach store is growing a steady customer base. The new store adds six full-time jobs and grows Milo Butler’s employee count to 83 across its chain of companies.
