Bahamian AKA's take top awards at regional conference gala in Chicago

CHICAGO, Illinois -- From July 13-15, 2015 members of the Eta Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. travelled to Chicago, Illinois for the 25th International Regional Conference (IRC). The conference was held under the theme 'A Silver Celebration of International Splendor' and was led by the first International Regional Director from the International Region, Gizette L. Thomas. Members of the Sorority were extremely excited to participate in a full agenda highlighting the Sorority's new initiative, Launching New Dimensions of Service, under the direction of the International President, Dorothy Buchanan Wilson. The conference equipped the attendees with pertinent information on programs, community service, and partnerships, all focused on strengthening the region's impact.

The conference kicked off with a Welcome Reception hosted by the ladies of the Eta Psi Omega Chapter and featured the sights and sounds of the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival. Members throughout the region enjoyed an assortment of Mortimer's candies and danced the night away adorned with headpieces from the Bahamas Masqueraders to the pulsating sounds of Bahamian Junkanoo music.
