And the Bahamian Icon Award goes to ...

Men and women who have excelled in various industries and made contributions to the overall development of the Bahamian community will be recognized at the 3rd Annual Bahamian Icon Awards.

The Awards will be held on July 11 at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort, recognizing nominees in commerce, education, entertainment, music, tourism, sports, health, fine art, entrepreneurship, youth development and humanitarianism
Legendary Bahamian musician, Ronnie Butler will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to nation building through music.

"The overall goal of the Bahamian Icon Awards is to seek out opportunities to tell the stories of outstanding Bahamians," says Addis Huyler, founder and executive producer. "Our mission is to provide an achievable goal that inspires and encourages consistent efforts to achieve excellence and the fostering of goodwill."

According to Huyler, WPLG Local 10 news out of South Florida will provide coverage of the Awards. He also said that Emmy-nominated News Anchor Constance Jones will present the Bahamian Icon Award for Outstanding Live Entertainment Ensemble.

The event will also be broadcast live on Cable 12 beginning at 5:30 p.m., and streamed live at www.bahamianiconawards.com.
