Island Luck Cares Foundation announces the launch of the “Keep The Bahamas Beautiful” cleanup and neighborhood beautification initiative. This initiative has been launched in partnership with Coca Cola and Urban Renewal in honor of the 42nd Celebration of Bahamian Independence, and is designed to aesthetically improve the environment by cleaning and creating more inviting communities, parks, streetscapes and public spaces.

Volunteers will join together in a “Team-up to Cleanup” event, on July 11th, beginning at 8am to serve the Englerston and Mason Addition communities. They will participate in a full-day Adopt-A-Block community beautification outreach effort, which will include roadway cleanups, landscaping, trash removal, and the painting of the local parks. Following these activities volunteers will be treated to a free afternoon block party and barbecue to celebrate a job well done.

“We believe that such a neighborhood cleanup initiative can create a sense of community and bring people together to form a greater sense of unity and purpose. Not only will it serve a practical purpose, such as cleaning and revitalizing these areas, but also, offers a sense of pride to local residents and business owners. We invite everyone to come out and join us for this cleanup initiative,” says Mr. Bastian, founder of the Island Luck Cares Foundation.

Local Artist Jackson Petithomme and Alan Wallace, will also be donating their time and artistry to repaint the local parks in Englerston and Mason Addition. The colorful paintings that will be incorporated in the outreach efforts at each park are the result of collaborations between artist and the IL Cares Foundation committee board. “Working with these creative and inspiring artists we were able to come up with a visual that is authentically Bahamian but that also tells a story of community, togetherness and optimism. And though this is not the first of it’s kind, we aim to continue to educate communities about the negative effects of littering while seeking to promote general good health and the long-term stability of the environment.”

Let’s work together to ensure the Bahamas has beautiful land and seas forever!
