Ms. Rengin Johnson to be awarded 2015 "Woman of Distintion" Award

Celebrating Woman International (CWI) a subsidiary of TKHGFI nonprofit organization, announced plans today to award Ms. Rengin Johnson with the “Woman of Distinction Award” 2015 for her outstanding accomplishments professionally and within the community.

Ms. Rengin Johnson is a resident of the City of Freeport and has been a Counsel and Attorney-at-Law by profession for over 30 years. She was called to the English Bar, the Honorable Lincoln’s Inn in 1983 and called to The Bahamas Bar in 1992. She is a longtime member and former director of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and an Executive Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Bahamas Branch and an Associate of CIArb England.

Ms. Johnson has served as a Deputy Chief magistrate and as a Circuit Justice from 1995 to August 2000 in the Family Islands and Court No. 3, Freeport, Grand Bahama. In 2013 she was nominated as an Honorary Consul for The Republic of Turkey in The Bahamas. Ms. Johnson both in her professional and private life has been a very dedicated, assertive, hardworking and principled person who has been

a leader by example. She is a service-oriented individual supported by her involvement in numerous charitable endeavors and organizations throughout The Bahamas, including being a longtime member of The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce, The Cancer Association, The Grand Bahama Heart Association and a former President, Director of The Rotary Club of Freeport and the Sunset Rotary Club.

Ms. Johnson is a dedicated and supportive mother of 2 sons, who were educated in England and Canada, an attorney and Politician; Osman Johnson and a Civil Engineer and Musician Omar Johnson.

Ms. Johnson has been in private practice in her Law Firm since 2000. For twenty years she has provided at her cost, legal aid. For a period of over 17 years she has also provided legal aid through her radio show called “Scales of Justice” which has benefited the public in general. She continues to make valuable contributions to the Grand Bahama community and is respected among her peers, the community of Grand Bahama and The Bahamas.

Founded in 2013, Celebrating Woman International aims to mobilize and inspire women across the globe, to honor, recognize and celebrate the contributions of women, leveraging their untapped leadership capabilities in order for them to thrive in the world so that they can lead productive lives.

Celebrating Woman International goals are to: • Unite, connect, engage and inspire women to honor and celebrate themselves and other women worldwide.

• Expand women’s global business and leadership opportunities.

• Create a virtual “Celebrating Woman” Worldwide Center & Hall of Honor by 2020.

• Provide a one-of-a-kind global education initiative focused on honoring differences.

• Inspire a spirit of service and giving among women.

“Celebrating Woman International thinks honoring women for their accomplishments and hard work is a wonderful way to thank and inspire other women within the community. These awards are intended to do that. The selected honourees have demonstrated an untiring zeal for service to the community and inspire us through their selfless commitment to improving the lives of others,” Celebrating Woman International Corporate Secretary, Collin Smith said.

During the month of October, the “Woman of Distinction Awards” will be awarded to women who have made significant contributions in the following categories: arts; business; finance & trade; religion; law; civics; media and sports in The Bahamas.

During the month of September, Celebrating Woman International will announce the names of all the honorees and give more details about the upcoming events.
