TripAdvisor and RCI have each awarded Nassau’s leading boutique hotel, Sandyport Beaches Resort and Hotel, with a top hospitality award based on consistently achieving outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor and RCI. TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence and all-important four ‘bubbles’ online symbol is a first time accreditation for the popular local hotel nicely positioned between the Sandyport Beach and the Sandyport Marina on West Bay Street. Top travel industry web site TripAdvisor rates Sandyport among the top five hotels in Nassau.

The property also won for the second consecutive year the coveted RCI Gold Crown Resort award, the highest of the three RCI designations, which is also largely determined by vacationers’ outstanding comments. There are only three resorts in The Bahamas that hold the annually-awarded RCI Gold Crown designation.

The announcement was made at a recent award presentation to the General Manager Vernon Moss, and proud staff members by Director General of Tourism Joy Jibrilu. Suzanne Patusch, executive director of the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA), attended to offer congratulations.

Vernon Moss, who has been with the resort for over 14 years, said he was extremely proud, and especially so for his staff who work tirelessly, with a real love for what they do.

“I’ve got the best group of people working here in the world – we’re family and we greet our guests as such, and they have responded by returning to us time and time again. We are proud to win these awards and feel blessed. When people ask what is the secret to our success I say that we love what we do and we like to do it well.”

The prestigious certificate of excellence recognizes establishments that consistently earn great TripAdvisor reviews from travellers. On the online site, TripAdvisor for Business, Marc Charron writes, “ By putting a spotlight on businesses that are focused on delivering great service to customers, TripAdvisor not only helps drive an improvement to hospitality standards around the world, it also rewards businesses both large and small and gives them the ability to shine and stand out from the competition.”

Director General of Tourism Joy Jibrilu echoed these sentiments stating that Sandyport Beaches Resort and Hotel sets the bar for Bahamian service standards with its repeated award-winning reviews.

“These awards put Sandyport Beaches Resort & Hotel at the top of the ladder. Often we hear that we (The Bahamas) are not achieving a standard of excellence, but here we have this hidden gem. The fact that this is the fifth time that Sandyport Beaches has received the RCI Gold Crown Award sets a standard not only for them to maintain but also for other hotels to aim for. So, we congratulate Sandyport Beaches Resort and Hotel. It speaks so well about the islands of the Bahamas.”

Suzanne Pattusch, executive director of the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association, said it speaks volumes for the hotel that the awards are based on customer reviews.

“This is a success story,” declared Mrs. Pattusch. “What I love about these awards is that they speak for the customer. This success is not only due to the beauty of the place and the management, but also every individual. From the person at the desk to the staff that services the rooms, they are hands-on and love what they do here and it shows. That aspect is the resort’s biggest asset, and it’s reflected in the customers’ reviews.”

The resort was named one of the best boutique resorts in The Bahamas by Travel & Leisure and last year, The New York Times travel section recommended Sandyport Beaches Resort and Hotel as a “serene” place to stay when in Nassau. Travel writer Brendan Spiegel included the popular resort in an article featuring 11 of the islands best attractions for the tourist seeking a subtler, more authentic Bahamian experience. Spiegel praised the popular Sandyport resort for its “picturesque collection of villas in a gated marina community near Cable Beach with waterfront views and a serene atmosphere”.

Sandyport Beaches Resort and Hotel’s unique colonial-style villas house 72 studio rooms and suites located between the marina lagoon beach and the ocean-side Sandyport Beach on West Bay Street, in Sandyport Marina Village. Top travel industry web site, TripAdvisor rates Sandyport among the top five hotels on New Providence.
