In keeping with its commitment to the community, Scotiabank proudly signed a $50,000 multi-year partnership agreement with the Royal Bahamas Police Force, creating a bright future for Bahamian youth.

“We are pleased to announce this awesome partnership and look forward to working with the Royal Bahamas Police Force in years to come,” exclaimed Sean Albert, Managing Director, Scotiabank in The Bahamas.

“At Scotiabank, we are mindful that it is essential to engage children in wholesome activities during the long days of summer when schools are on holiday and parents are at work. We are proud to partner with the police as there is no disputing the commendable job that they do to build stronger communities through their summer camps, youth bands, and other positive initiatives aimed at young persons,” Albert continued.

Through its Bright Future global philanthropic programme, Scotiabank aims to be relevant and responsive to the needs of local communities at the grassroots level. The Bank had been supporting numerous divisional groupings of the Royal Bahamas Police Force summer youth programme in New Providence and on the Family Islands for years. However, at this juncture, Scotiabank determined to streamline and strengthen their partnership by signing a formal, multi-year $50,000 agreement with the parent organization.

“Over the years, our employees have volunteered to serve lunch, speak to children and give treats at police summer camps throughout the country. This partnership will see us continue that commitment with particular emphasis on financial literacy training among youth,” Albert pledged.

Scotiabank formalized its longstanding partnership with the police during a special ceremony at the Paul Farquharson Conference Centre of the Police Headquarters on East Street. Beginning this year for five consecutive years, Scotiabank will give $10,000 a year to support the camps. Assistant Police Commissioner, Stephen Dean, expressed thanks to the Bank on the Commissioner’s behalf and in his absence. He said that the police camps are extremely popular in the local community and provide positive summer activities for approximately 4,000 young people throughout The Bahamas annually. Scotiabank’s support will be used to purchase camp supplies.
