One of the three men accused of the home invasion and armed robbery of the Deputy Prime Minister will learn today whether he will be granted bail. Justice Vera Watkins was expected to give her ruling in relation to Jeffrey King yesterday, but the decision was deferred because his attorney Geoffrey Farquharson was out of town.

Prosecutors allege King, 25; Tyrone Knowles, 25, and Marc McCartney, 21, robbed Philip Brave Davis, his wife, Ann Marie Davis and his aide Wilberforce Seymour in 2013.

They are accused of robbing Mr. Davis of jewelry worth $93,000, a jewelry box worth $200, a Baracca bracelet worth $700, an opal top wallet worth $450, a Royal Bank of Canada credit card and a driver's licence worth $15. The three are further accused of robbing Mrs. Davis of $2,953 and Seymour of $10.

McCartney was given bail last December due to the tenuous nature of the evidence against him.

Knowles' bail application was refused in March due to the strength of the prosecution's case. Two proposed prosecution witnesses against King have sworn affidavits recanting their police statements. The prosecutor Linda Evans said she was concerned about this and it raised the possibility of witness interference.
