The Bahamas National Festival Commission is gearing up to bring Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival to a neighborhood near you, with the launch of the Big Truck promotion around the various neighborhoods in New Providence.

Starting on Collins Avenue this Wednesday and Saturday leading up to the May 7th —9th week of events, the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival ‘Big Truck’ will be heading North, South, East and West with a truck full of goodies for the community.

Wednesday’s Big Truck event will be followed by the last Frankie’s Fete of the season at Frankie Gone Bananas on Arawak Cay. It is a time for the public to meet and hear about the artists from the Music Masters festival as well as browse through costumes from the various Junkanoo Carnival companies.

With lots of giveaways and tickets for the official events, the Frankie’s Fete and the Big Truck’s purpose is to encourage unity in a fun and festive way in the different neighborhoods around town and to give the public an opportunity to see what the costumes and music of this 2015 season will be like.

“We will be heading through the inner-city areas as well as the coast areas to give everyone a taste of what the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival season 2015 will be like for all,” said a statement issued by the Bahamas National Festival Commission. “We want everyone to know that this is going to be fun and festive time for the people of the nation to enjoy culture in a safe and secure environment.”

The route for Wednesday will be Collins Avenue heading south to Wulf road, heading east to Bernard Road onto Fox Hill, from Fox hill roundabout heading South onto Prince Charles drive. From Prince Charles Drive, the Big Truck will head west to Marathon Mall, from Mall heading west to Robinson Road and onto Blue Hill road roundabout. From Robinson road head north to Poinciana drive, north on Nassau street to west bay street, on to Bay street, back to Collins Avenue.

On Saturday, the route will be Collins Avenue heading south to McCullough Corner, onto East street heading south, on to St. Vincent Road heading west.
