A Supreme Court jury on Friday unanimously acquitted Roshard Watkins of the armed robbery of an off-duty policeman.

Prosecutors alleged that Watkins robbed the officer on July 19, 2013 after he pulled up to a marina on East Bay Street. The officer was robbed of a cell phone and other personal items.

Calvin Seymour of R A Farquharson and Co. defended Watkins. Kevin Farrington and Floyd Moxey appeared for the Crown.

In other court news, a murder convict seeking bail pending appeal on medical grounds withdrew his application yesterday. Andrew "Yogi' Davis sought bail after repeated delays in the prosecution of his 2013 murder conviction for the 1999 shooting death of DC Jimmy Ambrose.

Davis, Stephen "Die' Stubbs, and Clint Evans were all sentenced to life imprisonment. The appeal was delayed because the transcripts of the trial were not ready. Since the appeal is now scheduled for May 4 and record of the proceedings have been prepared, Davis' lawyer Ian Cargill withdrew the application.
