GOOD TIMES - Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe, spent some time mingling with residents and visitors during the official launch of Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival on Friday night at Taino Beach. The official launch was a two-day event, leading up to the main event, Road Fever, being held in Nassau on May 9.

GIVING RECOGNITION - During the official launch of Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival at Taino Beach on Friday night, Prime Minister of The Bahamas, the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie(left), recognized the two individuals who brought the idea to him -- the late Winston 'Gus' Cooper, leader of the Valley Boys Junkanoo Group, and Percy 'Vola' Francis (centre shaking hands with Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville). Also seen is Leon Williams, CEO of BTC, a major sponsor of the event.

CONGRATULATIONS - The finalists of the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival Song Competition were announced on Saturday night. The two-day event was the official launch of BJC at Taino Beach.
